Events like Library Week, English Week, Maths Week, Maths Display, and Winter Festival so on and so forth are organized. Inter School Competitions, Inter House Competitions, different workshops for the students and the teachers also add on to the list of events that AVV organizes for its students. Solo song, Dance, Quiz, Drawing, Sports competitions and displays are the events which students look forward to for participation throughout the year. Students have been bringing laurels to the school by securing good positions in all the events they are participating in within and outside school.

Resource persons are regularly invited to add to the learning experiences of students. This helps them to take a look at different fields from a first person point of view.

Reaching out globally

Grappling with the challenges of secondary education is a daunting task in itself, and what is becoming increasingly clear is the universality of certain issues, that hold true for schools across the globe. With shrinking borders, excessive access to high end technological gadgets and ever declining humanitarian quotient, educationalists across the board are finding it difficult to resolve even routine issues. It is in the background of this scenario that educationists everywhere need to reach out globally for plausible solutions. The first ever Anglo Indian conference, for addressing issues on secondary education, ‘All our futures’ began on 27 th June and concluded on 2nd of July at The Oldershaw school, Sheffield, in Liverpool, U.K. It was an endeavour of Aspire Trust UK, EduExcellence and IIT. It had speakers from the educational sector as well as people voluntarily associated with schools in England. The highlights revolved around the current educational practices, administrative rules and agencies for auditing the process of education. There was also a provision for each of the conference delegates to visit a school and observe its functioning for a day, in order to corroborate the data shared in the conference sessions. Apart from all this, excursions to exquisitely beautiful places with pristine charm were also woven into the daily schedule, which made it a business trip with pleasure. Attending the conference was extremely meaningful as it gave us a comprehensive view of the British education system. The conference was attended by the school Principal, Ms Suverchala Kashyap and a teacher, Ms. Poornima Menon.

Darpana and Kamatibaug performances

Students of Anand Vidya Vihar performed a street play Mere Desh Ki Rooh Kahin Kho Gayee Hai at Natrani, Darpana Academy, Ahmedabad and later at Kamatibaug, Vadodara. Through this play the students highlighted the blight that has afflicted society and is slowing eating into it.

Time changes, people and places change and so do situations. Similarly we have passed through a series of changes from being a democratic country to enslavement and then again to gaining independence. But social evils that had society in their grip are today not only the same but have increased manifold. Is complaining the answer or is it our duty to combat them and take the country on to the path of progress? The onus and responsibility is on us, we have to change, in order to bring about change.

Overwhelmed by the problems and social evils our society has lost its identity and its soul; it is our obligation to restore its misplaced glory. Thus, our endeavour is to take you on a journey showcasing for you a few glimpses of what we consider change…
